On Friday, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to make a bold statement about our current immigration policies: placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities Due to the fact that Democrats are unwilling to change our very dangerous immigration laws, we are indeed, as reported, giving strong considerations to placing Illegal Immigrants in Sanctuary Cities only. – Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 12, 2019 .The Radical Left always seems to have an Open Borders, Open Arms policy – so this should make them very happy! – Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 12, 2019 “The cruelty of this administration never seems to end,” Castro said, noting the list of Trump”s immigration policies that have been criticized or challenged in court as well as his sanctuary city offer. “These folks want us to choose cruelty as a weapon against these people and against political opponents.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also chimed in – most likely because her particular district would be a “sanctuary” for these illegal aliens if they were to be released. Pelosi”s spokeswoman, Ashley Etienne, said Trump”s proposal was “despicable.” “The extent of this Administration”s cynicism and cruelty cannot be overstated. Using human beings – including little children – as pawns in their warped game to perpetuate fear and demonize immigrants is despicable, and in some cases, criminal.” Representative Mike Quigley (D-Ill) concurred: “Immigrants are people. Not pawns to deploy in the President”s petty political fights. @realDonaldTrump”s cruelty knows no limits.” Immigrants are people. Not pawns to deploy in the President’s petty political fights. @realDonaldTrump”s cruelty knows no limits. https://t.co/WWyHXH108k – Mike Quigley (@RepMikeQuigley) April 12, 2019 He continued: Mr. President, Chicago has no problem with immigrants. In fact, we welcome them with open arms and embrace the many ways they enrich our culture and economy. https://t.co/feQ10s679u – Mike Quigley (@RepMikeQuigley) April 12, 2019 Our problem is with the cruel policies that you and your administration have pushed. These are human beings, Mr. President. Children and families who deserve better from our country than what you have shown them. – Mike Quigley (@RepMikeQuigley) April 12, 2019 This is all very interesting and actually makes zero sense: Trump issues a simple statement – offering to release detained illegal aliens into various sanctuary cities throughout the country – and the Democrats, who created those sanctuaries, are suddenly up in arms about it? Sure, some of these Democrats, like Castro and Quigley, are sly in their choice of words or diction, but it doesn”t change the fact that President Trump is literally extending his hand to actually give them what they want: illegal, non-citizens in their districts (i.e. more Democratic voters). Trump is right when he said (paraphrasing) no matter what he or his administration and party does, the other side of the aisle will constantly bitch and whine.
