Shortly after the tragic wave of bombings that hit Sri Lanka churches on Easter Sunday resulting in the deaths of over 300 people, numerous American politicians and other public figures took to Twitter to send their regards.
Interestingly enough, instead of referring to the victims, their families and other attendees as Christians, they called them “Easter worshippers.”
From the former president:
“The attacks on tourists and Easter worshippers in Sri Lanka are an attack on humanity. On a day devoted to love, redemption, and renewal, we pray for the victims and stand with the people of Sri Lanka.”

Hillary Clinton:
“On this holy weekend for many faiths, we must stand united against hatred and violence. I’m praying for everyone affected by today’s horrific attacks on Easter worshippers and travelers in Sri Lanka.”

2020 Democratic presidential contender Julian Castro:
“On a day of redemption and hope, the evil of these attacks on Easter worshippers and tourists in Sri Lanka is deeply saddening. My prayers today are with the dead and injured, and their families. May we find grace.”

The horrific attacks on Easter worshippers in Sri Lanka are heartbreaking. It fills me with sadness that an act of such hatred and violence took the lives of so many on the holiest of days. We have work to do so that every person, wherever they live, may worship in peace.

Easter worshippers? When did that ever become a thing?
Did these folks get some kind of memo telling them to call the victims who were tragically murdered in the horrible Sri Lanka terrorist attacks “Easter worshippers” instead of… Christians?
In contrast, compare Obama and Clinton’s reactions to the New Zealand mosque attacks; pay close attention to the wording they used:
“Michelle and I send our condolences to the people of New Zealand. We grieve with you and the Muslim community. All of us must stand against hatred in all its forms.”

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) March 15, 2019
“My heart breaks for New Zealand & the global Muslim community. We must continue to fight the perpetuation and normalization of Islamophobia and racism in all its forms. White supremacist terrorists must be condemned by leaders everywhere. Their murderous hatred must be stopped.”

Side-by-side comparison:

If you don’t think there’s a coordinated attack happening on Christianity, then you seriously need to wake up:
11 CHRISTIANS KILLED EVERY DAY FOR THEIR DECISION TO FOLLOW JESUS
UPDATE: Even Fox News aggregated an article from AP a few days ago titled ‘Tourists, Easter worshippers lament closure of Notre Dame.’
