U.S. Attorney General William Barr visited the FBI academy on Friday and gave a speech to new agents who had recently graduated. During the talk, Barr explained how he had previously served as AG, but this time around it felt like he parachuted into enemy territory. “I”m a two-time offender. This is my second stint as attorney general,” he said. “As we”ve been watching the coverage of June 6, 1944 – D-Day – I had the thought that my arrival this time felt a little bit, I think, like jumping into Sainte-Mu00e8re-u00c9glise on the morning of June 5, trying to figure out where you could land without getting shot.” AG Barr: “As we’ve been watching the coverage of June 6, 1944 D-Day, I had the thought that my arrival this time felt a little bit, I think, like jumping into Sainte-Mu00e8re-u00c9glise on the morning of June 5, trying to figure out where you could land without getting shot.” pic.twitter.com/D36xU0uYSj – The Hill (@thehill) June 8, 2019 The French town of Sainte-Mu00e8re-u00c9glise was one of the main targets of Allied paratroopers during D-Day, a massive invasion that included more than 160,000 troops who landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany. President Trump appointed Barr to be attorney general last December after Jeff Sessions reportedly resigned at the POTUS” behest. Democrats have since accused Barr of misrepresenting the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller in his report about Russia collusion. Congressman and chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee Elijah Cummings (D-MD) recently announced his panel”s intent of moving forward with voting to hold the AG in contempt over “missed deadlines related to the Trump administration”s effort to add a citizenship question to the census.” Main Image Credit: The Hill 42 views 4,377,674 views
